Positive: The studio was bright and modern, spotless and had everything we needed. Plenty of hanging space for clothes, including full-length for dresses with nice, strong wooden hangers - you don't see that very often in studio accommodation. A nice touch was the fresh bottle of milk in the fridge. Whilst the water pressure in the shower was not what we are used to, it is perfectly adequate, and there was more than enough hot water for both of us. The bed was really comfy with accessible plug sockets on both sides, which is a plus. It's a great location with shops, cafes, restaurants and food shops close by.
Negative: My overall score is brought down by my "check in experience". This property requires photo ID to be sent to it, and I fully understand why as a small company they request this as they cannot get to multiple properties to check ID within a short timeframe. However, on booking, Booking.com sends multiple warnings not to supply photo ID. On questioning Booking.com they informed me that they have a list of properties/companies that request this and this property/company was not on it. After further discussion, I supplied photo ID and paid the security deposit 9 days prior to our trip and received confirmation from the owner that the keysafe code would be sent. It had not arrived before the earliest check in time on the day of our trip and attempts to contact the owner by text and phone went unanswered. Eventually I had to contact booking.com who contacted the owner and provided the date/time of the confirmation I received 9 days earlier and then things moved smoothly and swiftly. I have to say that the owner had always been very polite to me and was apologetic about this. I understand that errors occur but the lack of communication/response to me was an issue. If he had responded this would have been sorted immediately rather than us waiting till nearly 2 hours after the check in time. Imo, Booking.com need to sort out a proper system re ID verification.
