Step outside for King's Cross and St Pancras, one of the city's most exciting areas, where you can dine in splendour, zoom to Paris or simply stroll beneath the arches that made Betjeman pick up his pen. Or, amble down through leafy streets to Russell Square and the British Museums, then on to Tottenham Court Road and Covent Garden. Whatever your mood, all of London is here, just waiting for you to get started.

Look out for the unusual light in the hall, its marriage of energy efficiency and intrigue won it an award. In the zone
King's Cross is entering the final phase of a huge regeneration – eat out, search for platform 9 and ¾, idle away an afternoon at the British Library or simply marvel at the soaring glass of St Pancras Station. You might zip to Paris on the Eurostar, or maybe you'll explore the streets of Bloomsbury in search of the spirit of Virginia Woolf and co. You're not far from the British Museum, and a short bus ride brings you to Holborn, Oxford Street, or down to the river. Alternatively, the journey from King's Cross to Oxford Circus takes only five minutes.
