1970's California Modern Estate designed by Stan Sackley, AIA in the historic Tennis Club - Downtown Palm Springs. Less than one mile from downtown shopping, restaurants and night life, up the secluded Ramon Road, directly across the street from the North Lykken Hiking Trail, nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains is a splendid private home in one of Palm Springs’ most prestigious neighborhoods, offering 360 degree city lights & mountain views. This four bedroom (all ensuite) four and one half bathroom with 3,699 square feet of living space has been meticulously renovated throughout. Sitting on just over ~ acre, this architecturally significant home captures the true essence of Palm Springs' indoor/outdoor lifestyle.
Enter through large double doors & you're greeted to an expansive sunken formal living room with beamed ceilings and encompassed with walls of glass & clerestory windows. A wet bar with ice maker is the centerpiece of a lounge boasting sectional seating and cocktail tables. A double sided gas fireplace provides the focal point for an evening of conversation, games and relaxation. A separate reading area is enhanced with sectional seating and a coffee table. Access to the outside is through enormous sliding doors. Internet access is available.
The gourmet eat-in kitchen boasts a Thermador SS oven/microwave, dishwasher, range top and refrigerator, counter stools for the island, white quartz counter tops & custom teak cabinetry. A Saarinen marble top table has stylish seating for four. The kitchen opens to a separate dining room which provides more formal seating for eight, overlooking the sunken living room and the pool outside. Outdoor access to the salt water pool and additional al fresco dining is provided by sliding doors. Melamine dishes and drinkware enhance the outdoor experience.
A full size washer and dryer are provided in a separate laundry room off the kitchen.
The east facing bedrooms enjoy lovely views of the landscaped backyard and the saltwater pool while the west facing rooms feature a private patio fountain and a view of the mountain across the street. Three of the bedrooms feature brand new king size beds with two sets of linens; the fourth bedroom features a new queen size bed. Each has a large closet, dresser, two bedside tables and a spa-inspired bath, with the master including a stand- alone tub, double shower heads, double sinks, and walk-in closet/dressing room. The living room and each bedroom is also equipped with a 49”-55” LG smart television. All four shaded bedrooms have sliding door access to the outside.
The two level grass and concrete patio backyard retreat, well lit in the evening, offers a resort style saltwater pool/spa featuring lounge chairs, a teak sectional sofa and love seat, a teak dining table with stylish white Verner Pantone chairs seating eight, and a built-in barbecue & fire pit. Umbrellas provide shade and pool toys are included. Wildlife ranging from Road Runners to geckos are in abundance. Screened sliding doors allow you to keep them outside where they can be enjoyed in their habitat.
Original paintings commissioned by local artist, Shawn Savage, ceramics by Jonathan Adler and glass by Mayauel Ward enhance the authentic mid-century décor in each room. Interior and exterior design by Totem Interiors of Manhattan Beach.
