Positive: We’ve had a lovely weekend catching up with family. The location is great, the house is beautiful and big with lots of space for everyone. The rooms definitely had space for additional cots if needed. Bed linen was clean and towels were soft and fresh.

Negative: There was a shard of glass on the carpet in the lounge. Given we had small children with us this was very dangerous. There was a huge poo (we believe from a dog) at the end of the garden near the trampoline. This led us to wonder if there’s usually a dog in the house? I saw when booking it said no pets and I’m allergic so presumed that there are no pets usually but I’ve unwell the last 48 hours which may be due to the allergens in the air. The house was also advertised as having a hot tub. But it’s empty and filthy, with sweet wrappers in it. I suggest the house is not advertised as coming with a hot tub if it’s not ready for use. I had to ask on the day of arrival how to get into the house. It would have been nice to receive a message a little more in advance with the details. Even if it just said that we’d receive them at check in time. There were no instructions for how to operate the oven (we needed to reset the clock), the heating (so we had to leave it as it was), where the washing machine was, wifi codes, etc. which we would usually expect. Also no instructions for where to put the rubbish and no details of any local amenities. We told the owners in advance that we were 4 adults and 5 children. The pull-out bed in the small front bedroom was not made up (which was fine) but we couldn’t find a sheet for it so used the duvet cover. And then had to use the duvet with no cover. All of which was a little disappointing. We also had to move the chest of drawers out of the room to make space for the bed. There were smaller niggles too: The dishwasher needs salt and rinse aid. The kettle leaks from the front bottom when you pour. The bottle opener was broken so we had to buy a replacement. The tins/trays for the oven are absolutely filthy. One of the chairs in the kitchen is broken - you sit at an angle. The floor, particularly in the kitchen, was quite dirty when we arrived. The cutlery is a real mix and not really enough of it.

Summary: Great location and property: shame about the rest.
