Welcome to our 1930's estate in the beautiful neighborhood of Bonaventure, home of the renowned Bonaventure Cemetery! Nestled back in the woods surrounded by nothing but wildlife, flowers, 300+ year old oaks and the sound of the birds chirping will bring you back to simpler times. If you are looking for a place to relax, unwind and get away from it all, you've come to the right place! We welcome and encourage ALL walks of life to come stay with us!
The Space:
We have renovated our house to keep up with modern times but you will find that the character still remains. This is one of the only houses in Savannah that you will find so far back off the main roads that it is quiet at night! We have chickens on site that you are welcome to check out and grab some eggs from, just beware of the rooster struttin' his stuff!
Guest Access:
There is an outdoor screened-in patio with lots of furniture that you are totally free to hang out in! Just walk out your main entrance and head a few steps to the right. You may smoke there as long as no one else is around. We have Cornhole boards as well as hammocks that you are free to use!
We offer tons of space to park in our large gravel driveway - guest spaces are designated with signage, please be sure to indicate if you will have more than one car.
The Neighborhood:
We are 3/4 of a mile away from Bonaventure Cemetery! Here is a little info about that:
Originally called Evergreen Cemetery, Bonaventure was a private commercial enterprise. It was established in 70 acres of the original Bonaventure Plantation when it became obvious the city’s existing cemeteries were nearing capacity.
Evergreen Cemetery was designed as a traditional Victorian cemetery with curving pathways, lots of trees and grassy areas. Although a cemetery, it was common for families to meet and picnic here while still providing a place of comfort and solace for the bereaved friends of relatives of those buried there.
Evergreen Cemetery was purchased by the City of Savannah in 1907 to become the fourth of the five cemeteries the city currently owns. Since then it has expanded from the original 60 acres to nearly 103 acres. The cemetery has been redesigned by the City of Savannah to provide a greater number of gravesites and more efficient maintenance than could be offered by the Evergreen design.
Getting Around:
Really, you can rent bikes and ride to town or just call Uber! It's the easiest thing to use to get downtown and not have to worry about the horrid parking situation!
Other Things to Note:
Just keep in mind that we do live upstairs (completely separated from your section of the house), we are very busy people and tend to come and go throughout the day. Please call Chase if you should need anything!
