The house, former inn of the Callejón del Precipicio, has its origin in the sixteenth century, when the town of Baños de la Encina begins to spill under the protection of the castle of "Bannos". It is said that its street, Basketry or Conquest, is the oldest in the place.
The name of the street, and also of the house, derives from the old work to which the people of the neighborhood once dedicated themselves: the majado and braided of varetas and esparto to elaborate baskets and baskets. Next to the threshold of the house, there remain, as eternal evidence of this art, the mojinetes in which the esparto was dyed before being braided.
The Posá de la Cestería has recently been restored following the constructive guidelines of the local tradition: rosacea stone of the place and woods of oak and strawberry tree; for old clay, slate and river Chinese floors. On the street, geraniums, carnations, jasmine, orange blossom, pomegranates, gallants, ... color the stony character of the street.
The ground floor of the house has two bedrooms. One with a double bed (1.50 cm x 1.90 cm, latex) and wooden ceilings; the second has two single beds of 1.05 cm. Also, on this ground floor is a bright and spacious bathroom. The floors are mud, except the entrance portal, where the traditional river Chinese soil appears.
The upper floor is accessed by a sturdy wooden staircase that distributes the space in two rooms. The most hidden one has a chimney, the other one, wide and luminous, looks out over the plain of the olive grove, revealing the first foothills of the Sierra Morena. A charming kitchen, fully equipped, and a small terrace dotted with geraniums, close the upper distribution.
The furniture and the details are worked up to the mime: private library, board games -some local ones supported on wooden or stone boards, like "the wolves" -, combination of modern and comfortable furniture (sofas, table, television, beds) with traditional elements in perfect condition (old sewing machine, singing, etc.); all immersed in the decoration more rooted in the local tradition.
The town is integrated into the natural park of the Sierra de Andújar (paradise of the Iberian lynx) and a stone's throw from the Despeñaperros natural park. Therefore, the house is an exceptional starting point for activities directly related to ecotourism, such as hiking, bird watching and wildlife, star observation, etc.
The house, in Starlight Reserve territory, is located 30 minutes from the World Heritage Cities of Baeza and Úbeda, and 10 from the Iberian Roman city of Cástulo, famous for its recent and outstanding discoveries: Mosaico de los Amores, Patena de Cristo , etc.
