We are centrally located, we have an great covered open courtyard, friendly bilingual staff and and a great atmosphere. We will help you with anything you need including tourism, transportation, etc. At Zen House Hostel it is communal living at its finest. Xela is famous for its indigenous Mayan community, spanish schools, handmade fabrics, volcanos, and Las Fuentes Georginas (hot springs) and artisan crafts. Most people come to Xela for its affordable Spanish schools but tourism is becoming more popular every year. Xela is also known for being one of the safest cities in Guatemala.
Zen House is located in the historical center of Quetzaltenango, a few blocks from Central Park (Parque Central). We are within walking distance of supermarkets, farmers markets, restaurants, cafes, pharmacies and locals shops. You can visit historical sites such as Parque Central, the Cathedral, Pasaje Enriquez, etc. We are also very close to popular bars and clubs for your nightlife activities. Zen House Hostel has a great covered courtyard to relax in and large spacious rooms.
The rooms are fully furnished, laundry service is available (additional cost), a fully equipped shared kitchen, free WIFI, lockers, beds, varieties of plants in the courtyard. Breakfast service available starting at $2 USD. There is no air conditioning because it is not required for the climate due to the elevation, the temperature in Xela never goes over 24°C or 75°F. Our hostel theme was inspired by the Zen Buddha. We have bi-weekly housekeeping service but our staff can be available at anytime to clean anything that may need it. Zen House has six rooms including dormitories and private rooms with shared and private bathrooms. We have a large covered common area with where you can relax and converse with other travelers. We also have a fully equipped shared kitchen. You can wash your clothes at our washing machine available for you to use 25 q. per use. Free WI-FI is also available.
