Calm on the bay in Marin - Renovated waterfront home | House in Marshall

2 Bedroom House in Marshall
Relax in a spacious, recently renovated 3-bedroom 2-bath private home perched over pristine Tomales Bay with glistening clean water, fantastic panoramic views of beaches and hills across the mile-wide bay in the Point Reyes National Seashore. Sit on the steamer chairs on the deck. listen to the lapping of the water against the seawall underneath the home, hear the laughter of the loons, see seals, otters and birds, and smell fresh air off the Pacific Ocean among wonderful unspoiled nature, yet only an hour from San Francisco. Feel the warm sun reflecting off the bay. The large deck is perfect for yoga or dining al fresco. The home has a southwest exposure and Marshall is sunnier than Point Reyes National Seashore. Don't forget to wear sunblock. If you are lucky, you will see an incredible sunset.
Once you pass through the front gate and past the gardens to the front porch, the first thing you see upon entering the home from the foyer is the beautiful bay through the French Doors of the Great Room. The home has been furnished primarily in a Danish mid-centurty modern style, featuring a teak dining table with a unique chandelier made from a sculptured light fixture from Tivoli in Copenhagen. There is tasteful original artwork throughout the home, and a large leather sofa and two chairs surround a teak coffee table in front of a gas fireplace. Most of the lighting is on dimmers, and the windows are double-pane for your comfort. The kitchen is fully equipped with almost every condiment you could every want. There is a blender, coffee bean grinder, coffee maker, toaster, oyster knives, dishes, glasses of all types, cups, bowls (including large wooden salad bowl) and more. Stainless steel appliances include a large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, disposer, and full-sized electric range-oven.
The master bedroom is very large and includes a California King bed suitable for a small family, a Le Corbusier lounge chair, a glass and steel desk with Henry Miller Aeron chair, another smaller desk, painting easel, a fireplace, and a swivel wall-mounted flat-screen TV that can be view from anywhere in the bedroom. A set of French doors lead to the deck and offer views of the moonlit bay at night. Off the bedroom is a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom with shower-tub and two basins. There is a heater and fan, an exhaust fan and window. Shampoo, peppermint body soap, and conditioner are available, as are body lotions.
The other two bedrooms share a bathroom with tub-shower. One bedroom has a Queen bed with a European foam mattress that is very comfortable. The other bedroom is small, about 7.5'X11' and has a pull-out double sofa bed that is suitable for two children, two smaller adults or one average sized adult.
The media room has a 12-foot high ceiling and can be accessed from the master bedroom, from French doors to the front porch, or from a sliding glass door that leads to the hot tub. The TV is a large Samsung flat screen with 1080HD and 240 MHz, offering an excellent picture. There is a Sony sound system with woofer to compliment the TV or for playing music CDs or video games. A blu-ray player can show HD and regular DVDs. There is a children's pool table and various games. We also have broadband Internet with Wi-Fi.
The Hot Springs (best quality) spa is located on the leeward side of the home and has a view past potted flowers to the dock and bay beyond. The spa is designed for two or three persons. Great for watching shooting stars at night and hearing distant ocean roar.
Guests have use of a tandem sit-on-top kayak or an aluminum rowboat. You can launch them from the dock. Clamming can be done on the beaches across the bay at low tide. Look for air holes or spritzes of water shooting up from the beach. You can also fish from the dock without a license. You might catch a halibut, perch, bass, herring, or sardine. You can also get crab from the dock with the net and some bait. I am growing oysters and mussels from the dock but you need to get yours from Hog Island Oyster Company, less than a half mile north. There is a gas bar-b-q and a Weber charcoal bar-b-q if you like your oysters cooked.
Our water source is a well shared by 18 other households. We are state certified water system and the water is tested bi-weekly and we have no bacteria whatsoever. It is perfectly good to drink. Although it appears we have a good supply, please conserve.
This is a magical place and staying here is a mesmerizing experience, inspiring the name of the home: Tranquility on the Bay. You might not want to leave.
