While conveniently located less than 3 miles from the casinos and nightlife of Black Hawk, our mountain house provides a very quiet and secluded getaway for couples, friends or families (even the furry kind). At 9,200 feet of elevation, the southern facing front deck offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, while the back porch provides a cozier woodsy feel for relaxation or outdoor dining (unless it's winter, in which we may advise that you eat indoors.) The property sits on 2.5 acres, which means there is good space from neighbors to offer that secluded feel.
Recent House Upgrades: brand new flooring, area rugs, curtains, comforters, and couches
The house has an open floor plan with the kitchen, dining area and living room all residing under slanted vault ceilings leading up to a spacious loft. The loft has a queen bed and two twins, with lots of natural light coming in from windows on all sides. The master bedroom downstairs also contains a queen-size bed, with a door directly to the main floor bathroom. The other bathroom/laundry is in the garage which you have to go outside to access. Sounds a bit weird but it actually has an oversized soaking tub and the garage is right below the house, so you don't have to go far. The kitchen comes with all upgraded stainless steel appliances, complete with everything you need to prepare meals at home. The living room is equipped with two couches, gas fireplace and 2 huge windows spanning the length of the wall looking out over the mountain range. There is a large smart TV connected to the wifi with a variety of accessible apps, including Pandora, Netflix, Amazon and YouTube. There is also a 2 car garage to keep your vehicles out of the elements.
In terms of amenities, there are a wide variety to choose from in short driving distance. It's a 7 minute drive down to the Casinos at Black Hawk and Central City if you are looking for a more lively evening or upscale dining experience. The entrance to Golden Gate State Park is just a few miles away and contains great hiking options. 20 minutes will get you into Nederland, or about 25 minutes to El Dora for skiing/snowboarding. Two miles away is the Rec Center which for a small $5 entrance fee gives you access to a couple indoor pools great for swimming laps or playing with kids (water slide!), as well as a variety of exercise equipment. One of our frequent stops is Base Camp just a mile from the house where we can pick up many of those last minute food items or toiletries that we forgot (including wine, beer and/or booze.)
We highly recommend 4/all wheel drive vehicle and/or snow tires during the winter months. All nearby roads are plowed by the city and the driveway will be plowed when we get 4+ inches of snow but the incline in the driveway can be difficult for two wheel drive cars or those with older, non-seasonal tires.
We have taken great care to create the kind of place that offers an escape to the mountains without leaving behind the modern conveniences so many are used to and appreciate. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
