Positive: New and neat, in a quite location, very friendly staff, very ample and rich breakfast,
Negative: on the positive side, the hotel is new, neat, very pleasant and in a quiet area. Very friendly staff too, and a very rich breakfast. Also, the rooms with ocean view indeed offer a spectacular view of the Reñaca area and the sea. However, the hotel also presents several inconveniences, which are not disclosed in the details about the hotel. Hopefully, the hotel will correct them. 1. Upon checkin, I was strangely advised that since, as non-Chilean, I was exempt from paying the local value added tax, my payment could be made only in cash, no credit card. A bizzare imposition never encountered elsewhere, as the tax exemption for non-Chileans has really nothing to do with the mode of payment. Only after arguing l was able to get this abnormal demand out of the way and pay, as normal, with my credit card. 2. The room has a coffee machine working with coffee capsules. However, only one capsule per person is provided in the rooms. For additional capsules (i.e., for additional cups of coffee), the hotel demands 2,000 Chilean pesos (= 2.10 US$) per capsule. Can a hotel be as frugal as to provide coffee for its machine in the room just for one cup, and as greedy as to charge over us$2 each for more cups? Here, yes. (I did get more capsules for free, but only after having to argue). 3. As noted above, the breakfast is very nice and rich. However, it is served only from 9am. Nothing earlier for guests who wish or need earlier breakfast. Furthermore, it is not that the service starts at 9 and then one can come to it at his/her convenience. Rather, the breakfast is offered in two set sittings which have to be pre-booked, one at 9 and the other at 10. If the 9 am sitting has been already fully booked by other guests before you, then your breakfast will be only at 10. (And this, after you could have only one cup of coffee in your room, as above).
