There is no through traffic in the quiet village on the Peene, so those seeking peace and quiet and nature lovers will get their money's worth here. In addition to a cosy barbecue area, there is a children's house, a sandpit and a swing, as well as a sauna and a relaxation room. Cranes and storks can be observed in the varied landscape of forests, meadows and rivers. For excursions on the nearby Peene River, canoes and kayaks with life jackets are available on the property, depending on availability. The district of Upost in the Peene valley on Lake Kummerow belongs to the municipality of Warrenzin, which in turn is part of the Mecklenburg Lake District and lies to the west of the town of Demmin. Parts of this region have been designated as a nature reserve since 2010. Cutting through the dikes has created a paradise for rare bird species such as wild geese. The area is a popular holiday region especially for water hikers, as the many forests, meadows and rivers offer ideal conditions for a carefree day in the fresh air. You will also find rare flora and fauna here. Pure rural tranquillity! A special feature near Upost is a megalithic tomb in the middle of the forest, which is rare in this region and can be traced back to megalithic architecture.

From there it goes downstream past the Haus Demmin ruins, the Devener Holz nature reserve, water-filled moors and beaver lodges to Kummerower See, stopping in Aalbude or Gravelotte. Day trips to the Baltic Sea with the islands of Rügen and Usedom and to Poland to the beautiful cities of Szczecin or Swinoujscie are also worthwhile.
