Positive: The stay got off on a bad note. A few days before my stay, the managers had confirmed I could access the apartment early -- at 1:00 instead of 3:00. I appreciated that and arranged a business call at 2:00. But when I arrived at the apartment at noon, the manager texted that she wasn't sure if the previous guests had left -- even though check-out is at 10:00! She was unapologetic, unaccommodating and just plain unwelcoming -- never apologized for the change and just breezily wrote that she was allowing me to leave my small overnight bag at the apartment while I could "explore." I needed a quiet place to hold my meeting....* The apartment itself is quite comfortable and very clean. But it's not very practical. The kitchen, for example, has a lot of gadgets but no basics like salt and pepper, scissors to open grocery packages, or paper towels. In fact, there was nothing to use to wipe one's fingers -- no napkins, paper towels or kleenex. The beds were adorned with charming fairy lights, but there were no bedside lights for reading. Although there were a/c units in each bedroom and the small living room/kitchen, there was only one remote. There was a private outdoor terrace, but no table, chairs, plants -- anything that would make it an inviting place to have morning in coffee. Speaking of coffee, there was none. No tea, no sugar...It just wasn't a welcoming place. The location was a bit seedy. There are no little cafes or mini-grocery stores in the immediate area. The nearest cluster of restaurants was back at the train station -- about a 15-minute walk. (By the way, to reach the apartment from the train station, it's an uphill incline that takes longer than the 10 minutes listed in the description. Also, if you arrive by bus, plan another 20- to 30-minutes to get through the confusing tunnel that leads under the adjacent railroad tracks.) The apartment was quiet and clean....

Negative: The location, the manager's unsympathetic response to changing her mind about the early check-in, the lack of practical things in the apartment. * In the end, she texted me at 1:30 that the apartment was ready for me. But by then, I'd already scrambled to rearrange my schedule...There was just no respect for my time or schedule. If the early check-in request had been denied at the beginning, I would have worked out another way to get my work done instead of counting on this manager to keep her word.
