And an automatic dishwasher with detergent pods.* Here in the kitchen too is a table top mixer as well as a handheld mixer (both KitchenAid®).
In the fridge, in addition to the breakfast items, you'll find a few bottles of water to get your stay started.
Breakfast is provided self-serve - Usually available is: Orange juice, milk, eggs, bread, bagels, butter, jams & jellies, and several kinds of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.* ToGo cups with lids are available for your use on the road.
DINING ROOM:
The dining room has a large, heavy!, solid oak table and chairs. There is space here for 8 settings but only 6 chairs have been placed.
LIVING ROOM:
In the living room you will find a 60 inch TV, a Blueray DVD player and a ROKU with internet access. Use your own Netflix or Hulu account. The Roku has several apps from which to chose. Some of the apps require a subscription, many are free. Several DVDs are available for your movie watching enjoyment. Also for your use is an iMac computer with printer/scanner attached. If you are logged into Wifi then you can print to this printer from your phone. There's a small library of books and a few board games. Here, too, is a large traditional fireplace. It's been converted into natural gas and has artificial logs.
BEDROOMS:
Blackout blinds in the bedrooms turns daytime into nighttime.
Alarm clocks in every bedroom. Ceiling fans throughout. Extra pillows in the closet of each bedroom.
Bedroom #1:
Our "master suite" has a KING size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and a Martha Stewart oversize cotton bedspread. Hardwood floors. Large closet. Cedar lined antique dresser. En-suite bathroom.
Bedroom #2:
KING size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and a Martha Stewart oversize cotton bedspread. Ceramic tile floors. Large closet. Antique dresser. Cedar chest with blankets. Use the bathroom in the hall.
Bedroom #3:
QUEEN size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and a Martha Stewart oversize cotton bedspread. Hardwood floors. A slightly smaller closet. Two antique dressers, one having a marble top. An antique travel trunk is in this room. It's covered by a Navajo rug and holds extra bedding. Use the bathroom in the hall.
BATHROOMS:
Updated bathrooms with basic amenities* (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and regular soap: bar and pump) and Blow-dryer in each bathroom. Some items you may have forgotten to bring can be found here. Things like a toothbrush and toothpaste; a razor (his and hers); a small sewing kit; make-up remover (avoid using the bath towels for this); band-aids; and sanitary napkins among other things. You'll find extra towels, linens, and blankets in the keeper in the hall.
The "master" bath is en-suite to the master bedroom and comes with a granite topped vanity having a ceramic sink. Walk-in shower. The toilet is dual flush for water conservation and has a soft close lid.
The bathroom in the hall is the "common" bathroom. But there is nothing too common about it. It's rather large, plenty of room to move around. The vanity is custom made hickory with porcelain tile top and a ceramic sink. Some of our guests have been enamored by the style of this vanity. It has a very uncommon two step surface. The toilet here, like the one in the master, is dual flush, water conserving, and has a soft close lid. The shower is dual use - tub/shower combo.
LAUNDRY ROOM:
Steam cycle Washing Machine and Steam cycle dryer including laundry detergent pods (scent/dye free), Oxyclean® bleach alternative but also regular bleach, laundry softener, and dryer sheets.*
OTHER:
Newer forced air furnace.
Newer MasterCool® (evaporative not refrigerated). Even on the hottest days we've had guests surprised by how cool it is. To help with the cooling effect, if needed, are ceiling fans in each room. Also a portable floor fan you can move around. The new double pane vinyl windows helps moderate the heating and cooling and keeps any street noise to a minimum.
There is a large lawn in the back and a nice sized patio with a table and chairs (seats 6). Cooking BBQ on the patio is a joy with the gas grill.
A FULL size bed can be found in the breezeway (covered porch) but is not really meant to be used. There is a noticeable lack of privacy and there are no climate controls. It could be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Children or adventuresome adults might like to sleep here. This is not a fourth bedroom and this bed is not included in the occupancy count. Don't even think about moving this bed or any part of it to any other space.
In a residential area away from the busy streets but easy to find. Close to NMSU, shopping mall, the hospital (Memorial Medical Center) and both interstates. The house is on a corner lot so there is one less neighbor to worry about.
*Please note: For long term stays of about one week or more these and other amenities are provided as an initial supply. You may have to do your own shopping as these initial supplies are used.
Enjoy the entire property except for two locked supply closets.
Built during the city's modest expansion of the 1960s so it's very much a part of the heart of the city. Close to NMSU, the mall and the hospital. There are a couple of places to eat within one block and a convenience store is nearby.
A short walk up the street is an elementary school for evening and weekend play. A couple blocks from a walking/bike path that stretches across the city from north to south.
Parking for two cars in the front drive while several more can park on the street. A few dozen steps to a city bus stop but a car is recommended for getting around. Less than a mile to the NMSU campus, the Mall, and the hospital. Quick access to both interstates. Airport in El Paso is available by shuttle (about 50 minutes).
It's a five or six minute drive to Old Mesilla where you'll find quaint shopping and dining. The Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday is a favorite destination for locals and tourists, about 5 minutes away. For the adventurous there is the newly designated Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument with great daytime hiking trails. White Sands National Park is about 45 minutes away. Check out our guidebook for additional local places.
