About the property
Alium Cottage combines three luxury, self-contained properties (Camassia, Fritillaria) and Bamboo Cottages) into one quirky place for up to eight people to stay. All three are part of the historic dairy and bakery buildings at the estate and overflow with character, from the original 18th century features to the exquisite decor. Camassia is a fairy tale-style cottage with two bedrooms, while Fritillaria, a beautiful suite, and Bamboo, a unique underground room, both sleep two guests. Enjoy walks in the estate's gardens or visit the resident alpacas. Or head out to local beaches, explore the Wales Coastal Path and visit the charming town of Cowbridge.
The space
Alium Cottage comprises Camassia Cottage, Fritillaria Cottage and Bamboo Cottage. They are attached to each and housed within the sensitively restored bakery and dairy buildings beside the estate's central courtyard.
Camassia Cottage
2 Bedrooms / 2 Bathrooms / 4 Guests
The property is set out over two floors. On the ground floor the open-plan living area, that features the original 18th-century cheese press, is separated into zones. The comfy lounge area has sofa seating, an armchair and a bench with scatter cushions, plus a Smart TV. Next to the lounge is the dining area with table and chairs for four.
The kitchen, hand crafted from trees felled on the estate, overlooks the pretty inner courtyard and is equipped with an electric oven/grill, a four-ring electric hob, a microwave, a fridge, a toaster and a kettle.
Upstairs, there are views of the sea in the distance, as well as the two bedrooms. The first has a king-size bed with an oversized headboard which cleverly conceals the en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has two single beds accessed via a small set of wooden steps and a private shower room next door.
Bamboo Cottage
1 Bedroom / 1 Bathroom / 2 Guests
Take the original stone steps down to the basement of the former dairy to this peaceful, subterranean guest room. The stone, vaulted ceiling is lit up by soft lighting, the window was once the old coal shoot and the furnishings are luxurious.
There's a king-size bed, while a stylish, bespoke glass door leads into the en-suite shower room that has a walk-in, rainfall shower.
There aren't any kitchen or dining facilities, but tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary tea, coffee and milk are provided.
Fritillaria Cottage
1 Bedroom / 1 Bathroom / 2 Guests
This luxurious, ground-floor room features exposed stone walls, a vaulted ceiling and a small recess which used to house the original bread oven.
There's a king-size bed, a desk and a two-seater sofa that's positioned to enjoy views of the estate's rose garden. A stylish, bespoke partition leads to the luxury en-suite shower room that has a walk-in, rainfall shower.
There aren't any kitchen or dining facilities, but tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary tea, coffee and milk are provided.
Outdoor space
The estate's 9 acres of gardens and grounds are perfect for a quiet stroll, a picnic or admiring the sunset over the sea in the distance. You will also have access to a separate shared laundry room.
Guest access
There is a key safe where you can access the key to the property for a self-check-in.
The estate grounds and gardens are communal and are available to guests of the manor house and all the apartments and cottages at the site.
Sustainability
The kitchen was hand crafted from trees that were felled on the estate.

Deposit: Bookings are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the booking value plus applicable booking fees with the balance payable 60 days before the date of travel.
Accidental Damage Deposit: To maintain the highest standards in our properties, guests will need to pay a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £300 prior to their stay. An advance payment as detailed in the booking summary can be made to waive this requirement.
Book with confidence: If your booking is affected by new Government travel restrictions which were not known at the time of booking, and you're legally unable to travel, we will arrange with the property owner to refund 100% of your holiday cost.
