The garden has a sloping bank and a small unfenced stream which leads into a river, 100 yards away.. In the heart of the Scottish countryside close to the sea lies the Arbuthnott Estate, home of the Arbuthnott family for over 900 years and more than thirty-five generations. Arbuthnott Holiday Cottages are a perfect base to explore this area of fascinating history. Situated just 3½ miles from the coast and with easy access to Royal Deeside, guests can have energetic or relaxing holidays here - the choice of activities is endless! The road network is very good, making it an ideal location from which to explore much of Scotland.
Comfortably furnished, Garden Cottage makes a great choice at any time of the year, to enjoy the peace and solitude of this unspoilt area. The cottage is situated 500 yards from the other three properties which are located in the Old School. Garden Cottage is an off-grid property, in a secluded, peaceful spot near the garden at Arbuthnott House, but still less than 10 minutes in the car to Inverbervie. Arbuthnott House is officially open to the public 10 days a year, although the owners are delighted to welcome small groups to the house and gardens, by prior appointment, appealing to many enthusiasts. The four cottages are named after the renowned novels of local author Lewis Grassic Gibbon.
The cottage is well furnished and has a lawned garden area. There are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities nearby. Inverbervie with its shingly beach and good coastal walks is just 3½ miles away, with many of the facilities you may need. Just 9 miles away is the bustling market town of Stonehaven with an outdoor heated pool – brilliant in summer. Take a trip to Dunnottar Castle, a proud monument overlooking the sea near Stonehaven and the inspiration for the location of the Disney film, Brave. Montrose, with clean sandy beaches, golf courses and leisure activities is just 13 miles away and it is easy to access the Angus Glens from here. You may want to travel on the Victorian Heritage Trail, through Edzell and Fettercairn towards Banchory.

Garden Cottage can be booked together with Sunset Song (ref UK11130), Grey Granite (ref UK11131) and Cloud Howe (ref UK11132), which are 500 yards away, to accommodate up to 24 guests.
