Homerton is where the heart is! That’s certainly how the locals see it anyway. A bit of an undiscovered gem, this little pocket of Hackney is a thriving hub of culture and creativity. Homerton is famed for its University Hospital and associated institutions but it also has strong links to the music industry including Toe Rag Studios, where notably the White Stripes' acclaimed 2003 album Elephant was produced and more recently the arrival of Sound Savers and Gun Factory studios. With a bustling and growing high street of independent shops centred around the uber cool Chatsworth Road area, the community has steadily grown in recent years. With prices more affordable than central London yet with easy access into the City and West End, more young professionals, creatives and families alike are making Homerton their home.
Much like neighbouring areas of East London, housing stock here is a mix of Victorian and Georgian terraced houses/conversions, warehouse conversions and ex-council flats with a smattering of new build developments especially alongside the canal.
