La Casa Della Posta | Apartment in Borzonasca, Italy
Brizzolara is 18 km far from the seaside resort of Chiavari, from where you can easily reach both Santa Margherita and Portofino, but also Lavagna, Sestri Levante, Moneglia, Deiva Marina and the Cinque Terre. Going along the provincial road towards the Aveto Valley, you can quikly reach 800-1000 meters a.s.l. and you can go hiking in the villages of Rezzoaglio and Santo Stefano d'Aveto. In particular, you can admire the beauty of the Lame and Abeti Lakes, the latter within the nature reserve of Lame (which it is available for visits only with advance reservations). Other surrounding beautiful valleys (Graveglia, Trebbia, Taro, Vara) full of amazing natural treasures are easy to reach by car for a day trip via wonderful villages where to eat special dishes and drink amazing wines.
Brizzolara village lies in the Sturla Valley at 310 meters a.s.l. along SP586 road. Its primitive nucleus was more downriver but after the plague during the 16th century the village was rebuilt where it is presently. The legend says that the name derives from the Byzantine "breeze". In fact, in the coat of arms of the Brizzolara family there is a depiction of the wind that descends from Mount Cucco, which overlooks the village, towards the settlement.
On top of the village you can find the "fountain" from which flows a clear and fresh water, which is said to come from the Prealps, and adjacent to it there are the public stone washtubs still used by women of the village. 3 km far from Brizzolara (Belpiano) you can find the "Indian Forest" Adventure Park where to enjoy a wonderful experience on the trees and take refreshment in the local farmhouses. Located 10 km away, the lakes of Giacopiane, which are sourrounded by a lush green. This place is the perfect location where to walk in the nature watching wild cows and horses or biking along adventurous paths that also lead to Pratomollo at the bottom of the mountain Aiona, and Rezzoaglio.
Coming to our place you can strike up with our three donkeys, Luna, Leo and Dalia and taste the fresh eggs of our hens. Our home is warm during winter and cool and quiet in the summer nights. Close to the apartment there are paths for relaxing walkings outside of traffic, but experienced hikers will also find panoramic mule-track worthy of their legs and mountain hut ready to host them. For bicycle enthusiasts there are also challenging climbs and nice slopes, both on asphalt and off-road, due to the proximity of a series of exciting hills and mountains and of the Bike Park of Santo Stefano d'Aveto.
